ועתליה אמיה דאחזיה חזת ארי מית ברה וקמת ואבדת ית כל זרעא דמלכותא:
dmlkwtha zrea kl yth wabdth wqmth brh myth ary khzth dakhzyh amyh wethlyh
Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal offspring.

ונסיבת יהושבע בת מלכא יורם אחתיה דאחזיה ית יואש בר אחזיה וגנבת יתיה מגו בני מלכא דמתקטלין ואטמרת יתיה וית מנקתיה באידרון בית ערסתא ואטמרו יתיה מן קדם עתליה ולא אתקטיל:
athqTyl wla ethlyh qdm mn ythyh waTmrw erstha byth baydrwn mnqthyh wyth ythyh waTmrth dmthqTlyn mlka bny mgw ythyh wgnbth akhzyh br ywash yth dakhzyh akhthyh ywrm mlka bth yhwshbe wnsybth
But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were slain, even him and his nurse, and put them in the bedroom; and they hid him from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

והוה עמה בבית מקדשא דיי מטמר שית שנין ועתליה מלכת על ארעא:
area el mlkth wethlyh shnyn shyth mTmr dyy mqdsha bbyth emh whwh
He was with her hidden in Yahweh’s house six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.

ובשתא שביעתא שלח יהוידע ודבר ית רבני מאותא לגבריא ולרהטיא ואעיל יתהון לותיה לבית מקדשא דיי וגזר להון קים ואומי יתהון בבית מקדשא דיי ואחזי יתהון ית בר מלכא:
mlka br yth ythhwn wakhzy dyy mqdsha bbyth ythhwn wawmy qym lhwn wgzr dyy mqdsha lbyth lwthyh ythhwn waeyl wlrhTya lgbrya mawtha rbny yth wdbr yhwyde shlkh shbyetha wbshtha
In the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the captains over hundreds of the Carites and of the guard, and brought them to him into Yahweh’s house; and he made a covenant with them, and made a covenant with them in Yahweh’s house, and showed them the king’s son.

ופקדינון למימר דין פתגמא דתעבדון תלתא מנכון עלי שבא ונטרי מטרת בית מלכא:
mlka byth mTrth wnTry shba ely mnkwn thltha dthebdwn pthgma dyn lmymr wpqdynwn
He commanded them, saying, “This is what you must do: a third of you, who come in on the Sabbath, shall be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;

ותלתא בתרע גבריא ותלתא בתרעא דבתרוהי תרע רהטיא ותטרון ית מטרת ביתא מדאשתלי:
mdashthly bytha mTrth yth wthTrwn rhTya thre dbthrwhy bthrea wthltha gbrya bthre wthltha
a third of you shall be at the gate Sur; and a third of you at the gate behind the guard. So you shall keep the watch of the house, and be a barrier.

ותרין חולקין בכון כל נפקי שבא ותטרון ית מטרת בית מקדשא דיי על מלכא:
mlka el dyy mqdsha byth mTrth yth wthTrwn shba npqy kl bkwn khwlqyn wthryn
The two companies of you, even all who go out on the Sabbath, shall keep the watch of Yahweh’s house around the king.

ותקפון על מלכא סחור סחור גבר וזיניה בידיה ודיעול לגו מן סדרא יתקטיל והוו עם מלכא במפקיה ובמיעליה:
wbmyelyh bmpqyh mlka em whww ythqTyl sdra mn lgw wdyewl bydyh wzynyh gbr skhwr skhwr mlka el wthqpwn
You shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand; and he who comes within the ranks, let him be slain. Be with the king when he goes out, and when he comes in.”

ועבדו רבני מאותא ככל דפקיד יהוידע כהנא ודברו גבר ית גברוהי עלי שבתא עם נפקי שבתא ואתו לות יהוידע כהנא:
khna yhwyde lwth wathw shbtha npqy em shbtha ely gbrwhy yth gbr wdbrw khna yhwyde dpqyd kkl mawtha rbny webdw
The captains over hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded; and they each took his men, those who were to come in on the Sabbath with those who were to go out on the Sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

ויהב יהוידע כהנא לרבני מאותא ית מורניתא וית שלטיא די למלכא דוד די בבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha bbyth dy dwd lmlka dy shlTya wyth mwrnytha yth mawtha lrbny khna yhwyde wyhb
The priest delivered to the captains over hundreds the spears and shields that had been King David’s, which were in Yahweh’s house.

וקמו רהטיא גבר וזיניה בידיה מעיבר ביתא מימינא עד עיבר ביתא מסמלא למדבחא ולבית כפורי על מלכא סחור סחור:
skhwr skhwr mlka el kpwry wlbyth lmdbkha msmla bytha eybr ed mymyna bytha meybr bydyh wzynyh gbr rhTya wqmw
The guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, around the king.

ואפיק ית בר מלכא ויהב עלוהי ית כלילא וית סהדותא ואמליכו יתיה ומשחוהי וטפחו יד ואמרו יצלח מלכא:
mlka ytslkh wamrw yd wTpkhw wmshkhwhy ythyh wamlykw shdwtha wyth klyla yth elwhy wyhb mlka br yth wapyq
Then he brought out the king’s son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the covenant; and they made him king and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, “Long live the king!”

ושמעת עתליה ית קל דרקדנין עמא ואתת לות עמא לבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha lbyth ema lwth wathth ema drqdnyn ql yth ethlyh wshmeth
When Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into Yahweh’s house;

וחזת והא מלכא קאים על אסטונא כהלכתא ורברביא עמיה וחצוצרתא קדם מלכא וכל עמא דארעא חדן ותקעין בחצוצרתא ובזעת עתליה ית לבושהא וקרת מירדא מירדא:
myrda myrda wqrth lbwshha yth ethlyh wbzeth bkhtswtsrtha wthqeyn khdn darea ema wkl mlka qdm wkhtswtsrtha emyh wrbrbya khlktha asTwna el qaym mlka wha wkhzth
and she looked, and behold, the king stood by the pillar, as the tradition was, with the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, “Treason! Treason!”

ופקיד יהוידע כהנא ית רבני מאותא דממנן על חילא ואמר להון אפיקו יתה לגיו מן סדרא ודייעול בתרהא יתקטיל בחרבא ארי אמר כהנא לא תתקטיל בבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha bbyth ththqTyl la khna amr ary bkhrba ythqTyl bthrha wdyyewl sdra mn lgyw ythh apyqw lhwn wamr khyla el dmmnn mawtha rbny yth khna yhwyde wpqyd
Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Bring her out between the ranks. Kill anyone who follows her with the sword.” For the priest said, “Don’t let her be slain in Yahweh’s house.”

ושויאו לה אתרא ועלת באורח מעלנא דסוסיא לבית מלכא ואתקטלת תמן:
thmn wathqTlth mlka lbyth dswsya melna bawrkh welth athra lh wshwyaw
So they seized her; and she went by the way of the horses’ entry to the king’s house, and she was slain there.

וגזר יהוידע ית קימא בין מימרא דיי ובין מלכא ובין עמא למהוי לעם משמש קדם יי בין מלכא ובין עמא:
ema wbyn mlka byn yy qdm mshmsh lem lmhwy ema wbyn mlka wbyn dyy mymra byn qyma yth yhwyde wgzr
Jehoiada made a covenant between Yahweh and the king and the people, that they should be Yahweh’s people; also between the king and the people.

ועלו כל עמא דארעא לבית בעלא וסתרוהי וית אגורוהי וית צלמוהי תבירו יאות וית מתן כומריא דבעלא קטלו קדם אגורא ומני כהנא מטרן על בית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha byth el mTrn khna wmny agwra qdm qTlw dbela kwmrya mthn wyth yawth thbyrw tslmwhy wyth agwrwhy wyth wsthrwhy bela lbyth darea ema kl welw
All the people of the land went to the house of Baal, and broke it down. They broke his altars and his images in pieces thoroughly, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. The priest appointed officers over Yahweh’s house.

ודבר ית רבני מאותא וית גבריא וית רהטיא וית כל עמא דארעא ואחיתו ית מלכא מבית מקדשא דיי ועלו באורח תרע רהטיא דבית מלכא ויתיב על כורסי מלכיא:
mlkya kwrsy el wythyb mlka dbyth rhTya thre bawrkh welw dyy mqdsha mbyth mlka yth wakhythw darea ema kl wyth rhTya wyth gbrya wyth mawtha rbny yth wdbr
He took the captains over hundreds, and the Carites, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from Yahweh’s house, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. He sat on the throne of the kings.
